Tipperary Racecourse

Tipperary Racecourse is a horse racing venue in County Tipperary, Ireland which stages both National Hunt and Flat racing. The course is located adjacent to Limerick Junction railway station and approximately two miles from Tipperary town.[1] Tipperary Racecourse is owned by Horse Racing Ireland.[2]

Racing had taken place at Tipperary since 1848 but the current course opened in September 1916. It was known as Limerick Junction racecourse until 1986.[3] The course is left-handed and flat and measures one mile and two furlongs round. There is a five furlong sprint track which joins the main racecourse at the start of the straight.[4]

Major races

Tipperary's major races are the Grade Two Tipperary Hurdle race and the Group Three Concorde Stakes on the flat, both run on the same day in October.
